ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Growing up in a small village in Sumatra, Mora, found escape from small town life in books. She fell in love with literature and pursued that interest at school in Medan. Eventually she realized that escaping into books was not enough and in 2016 she moved to Bali to find herself. After a few years of work that only fed her body and paid her rent in 2019 she discovered MUDFISH NO PLASTIC. Mora never imagined that she would one day become an educator and certainly not the Co-Director of an NGO that ran workshops for children about plastic pollution. But that is what she did become and since then she has taught 158 workshops, reaching over 4,000 children.
Mora has a dream, which may be impossible. but which keeps her motivated – to educate every child in Indonesia to say no to single-use plastic. It has been and will continue to be an incredibly difficult uphill struggle but that has only made her more determined. When she began this new chapter in her life, her mother told her that she should not waste her time because it is impossible to change the behavior and mindset of the Indonesian people.
Mora has come to learn how wrong her mother was. Together with her Mudfish team, she has been able to educate many children living in underprivileged and remote communities. Children who have learned how to keep their bodies healthy and the environment clean.
