Dojo presents: Movie Night and Discussion!
Join us on Thursday for a Movie Night Special at Dojo! On our selection this week, three thought-provoking movies which will not leave you indifferent! We will play the movie that received the most votes on our FB poll and follow it with a debate! Choose between:
OAT SUDIOS is an independent film studio started in 2017 by Oscar-nominated South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp. The studio was created with the goal of distributing experimental short films via YouTube and Steam in order to gauge the community for interest and feedback as to which of them are viable for expansion into feature films. We will have the opportunity to watch a couple of them.
TWO DISTANT STRANGERS is a 2020 American short film written by Travon Free and directed by Free and Martin Desmond Roe. The film examines the deaths of Black Americans during encounters with police through the eyes of a character trapped in a time loop that keeps ending in his death. Two Distant Strangers won the award for Best Live Action Short Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, marking distributor Netflix’s first win in the category.
ZION is a 2018 short documentary film following Zion Clark, a young man born without legs, growing up in foster care who finds solace in wrestling, joins the team, and wrestles against his able-bodied peers.
