Lady Boss: Being an Entrepreneur in a Male Dominated Industry

Rachel, Beverly and Zara will be sharing their personal stories on life, business, struggles, and success while being in a male dominated industry. Come share your questions and ideas, whilst networking with other lady bosses. We are bringing back this really cool event to celebrate the amazing women who are building fantastic businesses in Dojo.

Rachel was born in Adelaide, South Australia. Initially following the path of her parents and sisters she enrolled into a University degree straight after school and slugged it out until she finished a Psychology degree. While she loved the knowledge it gave her, she knew being a Clinical Psychologist wasn’t the right path for her- and instead took a job working as an Account manager for Asahi Beverages. After a number of sales jobs and promotions it wasn’t until a Bali trip last year where Rachel met and lived with 7 digital nomads from around the world and knew that this lifestyle was the one she wanted. Much to her parents disgust she came home, quit her full time job, self-taught herself in areas of Digital Marketing and has since landed some of Melbourne’s biggest hospitality group clients. Now on the path to openly share and help them people the life they dream of.

Beverly Sasagawa Palar was born and raised in Singapore to a Japanese mother and Indonesian-Chinese father. She went to university in the U.S and started her corporate career in commercial real estate in Shanghai. After a decade of the work hard, party harder big-city grind, she burned out and found herself in the hills of Ubud in Bali where she ended up staying for three years. Healing herself from burnout and depression through learning and teaching of various healing practices namely yoga, meditation and surfing. She returned to the big city life in 2017 and now runs her family’s property business in Jakarta with her brothers while spending half the time back on the island of Gods running Flowstate Retreats. Balancing the big city and island life-property and wellness, surf and yoga and happy to share ideas on how finding the balance within yourself helps us thrive in dynamic environments.

Zara Nurul Mutia was born and raised 30 years ago in South Jakarta. As the 1st child and grandchild she has gotten used to taking care of herself and her siblings and be a role model for them. She has started to become independent at the age of 13 with producing and selling traditional snacks and becoming a street musician to be able help support her parents financially. Her career has then gone up after becoming the public relations in a hotel and become a band manager assistant. In 2013 she became a reseller of women clothing which enabled her to start travelling overseas without worrying about fixed location dependent working hours and decided to get her commercial cookery graduation at Fremantle University TAFE. In January 2016 she returned to Indonesia and decided to live in Bali because of her interest in being amongst multicultural people. Bali dogs is one of her concerns and felt like she soon started to rescue and adopt 2 dogs and 1 cat. This gathered her interest for researching how to make healthy homemade dog food and started making big batches. Until finally Cooper’s Dog Food was born in November 2017 and now she is able to help even more stray dogs and continue to spread the love.
